Funding & Independence Policy

Foundation for Consumer Freedom Advancement (FCFA)

Our principles

01. Consumer freedom first

FCFA is an independent, non-profit consumer advocacy organization. We champion the consumer's right to make informed decisions about the products and services they choose, across African markets.

02. We do not change direction for money

We ensure our supporters and the public that our work is aligned with our mission. We will not change our positions on consumer choice, harm reduction, and proportionate regulation just because someone offers us money to do so. Private individuals, businesses, and foundations support FCFA, and none of them buys our positions.

03. A strict separation between funding and editorial decisions

FCFA maintains a strict independent editorial policy. We operate without interference in our research design, sourcing, analysis, and publishing. There is a Chinese wall between our fundraising and our editorial decisions: donors do not review, approve, or veto our research or our public positions, before or after publication.

04. No exclusivity

We do not accept exclusive funding arrangements within any sector. FCFA is the consumer voice, not any company's voice, and every agreement we sign says so in writing.

05. Research you can check

Every survey or poll FCFA cites in its advocacy is published with its methodology: sample size, geography, fieldwork dates, sampling method, and questionnaire. Our evidence is open to scrutiny because our credibility depends on it.
